When I was a teenager and aspiring violinist, I took great inspiration form listening to recordings of great violinists. There are actually re-engineered recordings of late nineteenth, early twentieth-century violinist Fritz Kreisler. He was also a composer and some of his pieces are great intermediate pieces for students to learn. Some of his pieces are also advanced. Some of the violinists prominent in the twentieth century with great recordings to listen to are Jascha Heifetz (his recording of the Beethoven Violin Concerto is one of my favorites), Isaac Stern, Yehudi Menuhin, and David Oistrakh. A real favorite still playing concerts is Itzhak Perlman. One of the most famous female violinists in the world today is German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. Download their recordings and listen – you will be inspired!
